Podiatry

Podiatrists are healthcare professionals who have been trained to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

They also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections.

They can give you and your family advice on how to look after your feet and what type of shoes to wear.

Biomechanical assessment checks could ascertain the cause of aching feet and painful lower limb problems which are often due to misalignment of the soft tissue and joints in the foot structure, and negative (vulgus) heel strike, which can lead to aches, pains, sprains, over pronation (arch collapse), and also sports related overuse injuries. This in turn can affect posture and gait, as every step we take impacts upwards through the body.

Podiatrists can also treat and alleviate day-to-day foot problems, including:

  • toenail problems, such as thickened toenails, fungal nail infections or ingrown toenails
  • corns and calluses
  • verrucas
  • athlete's foot
  • smelly feet
  • dry and cracked heels
  • flat feet
  • bunions
  • heel pain
  • ageing feet
  • blisters
  • gout
  • sports injuries

Fees:

  • Initial Consultation and Assessment Fee : £55 (a one hour medical assessment and treatment)
  • Subsequent Treatments : £45 / 30 minutes or £55 / 60 minutes as required by assessment
