The Ellis model of CBT (which can be used with or without hypnosis) is a psychotherapeutic philosophy which deals with both symptom treatment and in advocating a philosophy of emotional health. It is an action-orientated humanistic approach which stresses individuals’ capacity for creating, altering and controlling their emotional states. It places emphasis on the present, on currently-held attitudes, painful emotions and dysfunctional behaviours known to sabotage a fuller experience of life. It also helps clients to implement healthy and realistic alternatives to current problematic psychological problems. CBT offers proven therapeutic techniques for solving problems.
